For a substantial start to the day, consider the morning set: toast, salad, bacon and a fried egg, and yoghurt. Visitors have singled out the aroma of the buttered toast and the salad dressing, which they say has a nutty flavour. The yoghurt comes with blueberry sauce, and you can choose coffee or tea. If you would prefer something lighter, there is also a set with bread, yoghurt and a drink, so you can choose according to your appetite.

At lunchtime, the “Today’s Whimsical Lunch” pairs salad and hamburger steak with rice and coffee or tea. The menu lists it as limited to 5 servings, so arriving early may be wise if you have your heart set on it. One diner describes the tender, fluffy hamburger steak as a good match for its demi-glace sauce. Pasta lunches include peperoncino, meat sauce and carbonara. For something with bread, there is also a sandwich filled with prosciutto and cream cheese.

Tart makes a tempting finish. The apple tart is listed at 450 yen on its own or 650 yen with a drink; pear, chocolate, and passion fruit and mango tarts are also on the menu. Blend and American-style coffee are each 400 yen, while tea starts at 400 yen. The tea selection includes Earl Grey, masala chai and Sweet Ruby, a blend of fruit and herbs. Trying a different tea alongside your tart is part of the pleasure.

Tomarigi works for a leisurely breakfast or lunch, or a pause on the terrace. It is open Wednesday to Sunday from 9:00 to 17:00, and closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
